Sunday, August 31 - Shuswap Backroads

We had a fantastic day yesterday.  We had our largest turnout for a WWTGFAR day yet.  Eleven people on Ten bikes, and an eclectic mix it was.  Great weather and quiet roads. 

 

We met at Sutherlands in Enderby at 9:30.  L-R Bruce, Brian, Glen, Carrie, Ray, Heather & Emery.  

A nice ride up Grandview Bench Rd and across Foothills Rd past Salmon Arm the up Sunnybrae Road to Herald Provincial Park.  

 

We returned on Sunnybrae Road then did a nice loop through White Lake Road, Blind Bay then up Eagle Bay Road to the end of the pavement.  There's a nice little parking lot at the Wild Rose Community Park.  Great place for a break. 

 

We then rode back to Blind Bay and lunch at Finz Pub & Grill on the waterfront.  Great food and service.  After lunch we passed through Sorrento and rode Notch Hill Road and Tappen Valley Road back to Hwy 1 at Tappen.  Some of us headed for home and others took Salmon River Rd and Westside Rd to Kelowna.  

A great day with a great group.  It was good to see Chris back on the road again.

It was fun riding with every one, not something I am use too or do very often.. On a side note I  peeled off and took the Kualt Hill road that I had suggested.. Just off the last road before #1.  Good thing we didn't take it.. Longer, steeper and more wash board rough gravel than I remember, with a smidge of fresh pavement up top.. It would have turned the ride into an adventure and not for the better.  I must be getting forgetful, I was sure they paved the whole thing. Never, ever let me lead.  LOL 

thank you for a great ride out I have not been on a group ride for a long time. Great to be on the bike again
